Great question Melinda !!!
For all of our turns you want to be over the ball of the foot, and definitely not the heel. If you start to turn on your heels, your weight will not be balanced and you’ll feel very off balanced. The further your heel is off the ground, the less grounded you are.
The further you take the heel off the ground, the more room to fall there is. I’d recommend hovering or staying close to the floor with the rest of your foot.
If the pros are lifting their heel, most likely they’ve had ballet training and are very comfy turning on their own or know how to shift their weight to adjust.
