Hey Brian B and Megan! I saw your email, one thing I realized is how sensual Salsa dance can truly be, recently I started with a teacher who was a champion in her country in S America and she really opened my eyes how I was doing it all wrong... From just the simple cross body lead of feeling like im dragging her side to side likeĀ abag of groceries, to instead, using my right hand onto her lower back, leading to the other side and sliding my hand from there down her arm back to our connection of the hands.. made a HUGE difference with how I perceived salsa and out in social world... Do you think you guys can dive into this some with how to make salsa more sensual with dance moves with your partner and in the social dance world?
Hello SDO community!!
We wanna know...
When you first started dancing - what was your biggest struggle?? Can't wait to hear your answers! :-)
Hello all, did my first demonstration at our studio's party the other day, used some of the foxtrot moves here! Was cool!! Foxtrot btw
Anyone have ideas as for making WCS more popular and mainstream? Ā It seems to me bringing celebrities into it, Ć la "Dancing With the Stars," would do it, if WCS had its own little version. Ā Or a mini internet WCS chat show that would bring in a few celebrities.
Hello everyone! I'd like some advice on which songs to practice foxtrot to.
My fiancƩ and I are a couple of absolute beginners trying to get the basics down for our wedding next month, but we don't want to practice on the first dance song only - "Knock Me a Kiss" by Tympany Five, performed by Jumpin' Up - for fear of coming to loathe it in the long run. We need some pieces to practice keeping up with the tempo, as my partner has never danced before, and set a simple routine instead of a choreography.
If anyone could be so kind as to give us a few pointers, we'd be most grateful. Happy dancing!
We've heard that people from around the world watch our videos...now is the time to share!Ā š
Where do you watch our videos?!
Brian B is from Boston, MASS
Ms. Megan was actually born in Australia
Ms. Emily is originally from Austin, TXĀ
Now we all live in Louisville, KY where we film our videos for you!
How does everyone feel about acting out the lyrics in WCS or other dances? Ā I think itās called āmiming.ā Ā It can certainly be entertaining.
Does anyone else have this pet peeve?
The music from dancersā videos on TikTok sometimes gets removed for copyright reasons, and sometimes the music is later restored. Ā But the worst part is when the song is replaced by another one, generally one of a small handful of songs (such as āShivers,ā āIce Ice Babyā or āCheap Thrillsā). Ā I assume they are used because of their more open licensing agreement, if not public domain. Ā Sometimes youāll even find both the original and altered video versions, posted by different sources.
I donāt know who is doing the song substitutions, but isnāt this disrespectful to the dancers and their videos? Ā Unless they have somehow given permission. Ā Non-dancer viewers who donāt know about this process must notice the dance doesn't necessarily match the song. Ā (Not to mention what they must think of how limited the WCS song playlist is.) Ā Seems it would be more honest to just leave the dances silent with the āThis music isnāt availableā note, as awful as that is.
