We're working on covering all the dance styles, but I'm curious...

♦️ Which dance style(s) is your favorite?!
♦️ Which style makes you want to get up and dance?!

I, personally, love Nightclub, WCS, Hustle, Rumba and (I'm from Texas so, naturally) Two Step...really...I just like to dance! 💗

Hey there Charles!! I just tried it with one of my students and theoretically, it works! You'll just need to finish the box after you do your quick, quick to the side. Gotta love taking moves and making them work in other dance styles. Fun stuff! Thanks for the question!

Hey there Charles! So sorry for the delayed response and thanks for the question!I think I understand your question...2 Quicks equal a slow, but just because you start with a quick, doesn't mean it is in place of a slow, it's just in a different sequence or order. For instance: Most Tango moves are in 8 beat increments. The basic is: Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick, Slow (equating to 8.) In something that begins with Quicks, like the Reverse Turn, that counts: Quick, Quick, Slow, Quick, Quick, Slow (also equating to 8). There are a few exceptions to all the moves, like there are for most dances. I hope that answers your question. If not, shoot me a message back, and I'll try again! Happy dancing :-)

Hey there Travis! New Mexico is beautiful, but you're right...not much dancing going on. I know that Chicago and the surrounding area has a great WCS community. They have weekly dances and tons of great instructors in the area. I'm not as familiar with the New England area, but I found this website that has dances/events in that area, with a dance calendar which might give you some contact info. https://www.dcwestcoastswing.com/dance-calendar

You could always move to Louisville ;-)

Brian might have more insight for the other areas. Happy dancing!! Hope you find a great new community!

Hey there Richard,

It looks like you got a lot of good feedback with your post on the Facebook CDP page and I agree with all of the methods people have mentioned. :-)

For my guys/leaders, making them count out loud, and then stomp out the correct rhythm to that beat, to different types of songs has been extremely helpful. Is it just for WCS or for other styles too?

Figuring out what instrument to listen to, and what drives the beat to dance to - is so tricky, but it's vital, as you know. I think Brian dropped a few links for you, but I hope all of the ideas from here and the FB post help your struggling dancer!

Let me know how his progress goes and if something worked/clicked!
