My guess is that this position is like Rose at the bow of the ship in the movie Titanic :-)

Melinda you're the poster child for the way WCS (or any other dance) will grow and become popular in this modern era. Thanks for sharing your story and enthusiasm. It's that type of excitement that will influence people to want to learn!

Hey Melinda,

Thanks for all the fun topics! I can't speak to tap dancing, I've failed miserably at it several times but I CAN speak to the evolution of WCS (and swing dancing in general)Anyone who says they don't want other forms of dancing mixed with WCS is not paying attention. WCS is branch of the evolutionary tree that's rooted in Lindy Hop (we can go back further but lets just start there) It's been influenced by music, culture and other dance styles almost by it's nature. Jazz dancers, ballet dancers, modern dancers, ballroom dancers, country dancers, hustle dancers, zouk dancers have all influenced WCS just to name a few.So who knows if you add some tap in ;-)-Brian

ParaDancing! That's amazing. Emily has dances for several years and done several performances with one of out students who dances is a wheelchair so we have some experience there! Please let us know if you have any questions and we'd love to hear about your progress! -Brian

Hey again, personally I don't have a preference (but I'm a boy) I think it's a very personal choice. And of course there are trends. 20 years ago competitors never looked so 'casual' but these days it's much more common. As a judge I've never had an opinion one way or the other. The only advice I can give is to make sure you look put together and STAND OUT. Competitively, being noticed is important. So sometimes being contrary to the group can be helpful.  I'll have Emily chime in with a female opinion here soon! Thanks for the questions! -Brian
