Tango stuff has some crossover as well to foxtrot/waltx and is generally very fun and amuzing for the ladies. I didn't focus on american tango very much, but it's fun if you can find someone with enough gumption to have fun with it. It seems easy to learn lots of fun things in rumba to the point where I may have learned too much to be able to practice in the amount of time I get to dance rumba (ok, maybe rumba not a smooth dance, what do I know?). But, mostly I look for the fun box timing moves that I can use in either waltz or preferably foxtrot.

Personally I've been focusing on smooth dances. Not the most popular but the most satisfying. I'm decent dancer but lots of things I need to work on. I like to know more about fun but easy moves to remember and lead and various variations on twinkles. Outside partner moves can be difficult to lead because it's often hard to get partner to step outside.
